Blogger Images

by Robb Dunewood on June 27, 2005

Upload Images to BloggerToday is a joyous day that I have been waiting on, quite honestly, for years.  Blogger now allows you to upload pictures to your posts directly from the control panel.  They are giving Blogspot users 300 Mb of space to store their images for free.  Now, if Blogger would just come out with Categories.

16 Blogs make Time’s 50 Coolest Website list

by Robb Dunewood on June 23, 2005

It’s kind of nice to know that 16 of the coolest websites, according to Time Magazine, are Blogs.  I would say that Tech4front is most like LifeHacker and maybe if i post more than twice a week, it can make a top 50 list too.

Tom Cruise Gets Squirted

by Robb Dunewood on June 21, 2005

Tom Cruise PrankI don’t know if I would call myself a Tom Cruise fan but I do enjoy enjoy many of his movies and have seen most of them.  Maybe that does make me a fan, but I  digress.

Here is a link to the Prank Squirting Microphone.  I must say that Tom handled the situation quite well.  He didn’t go Russell Crowe on the guy and although he was quite annoyed by the prankster, never lost his cool, raised his voice, or even cursed.

I would have understood if Tom would have punched that guy right in the mouth.  Don’t know that I would have condoned it, but I would have understood it.

RAZRberry… Could this be the next BlackBerry

by Robb Dunewood on June 20, 2005

RAZRberryI found this picture that might be a mockup of the  a Motorola RAZR-style version of the BlackBerry affectionately known as the RAZRberry.  I don’t know that I am a big fan of the brushed stainless steel look.  It kind of resembles a surgical instrument.

Podcasting will change the face of Radio

by Robb Dunewood on June 14, 2005

A few weeks ago I was working from our New Your Office located right on Times Square, and when walking to an from the office I noticed the sheer number of people that had some type of head phones plugged into their ears as they walked back and forth from wherever it was that they were going.  The number was astonishing.  I actually counted 100 people in a row coming up from the subway station and 18 had headphones on, 7 of which were Ipods.  (I could tell from the white earphones)  < ?xml:namespace prefix ="" o ns ="" "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Believe it or not, as much of a gadget junkie as I am, I have never owned a portable MP3 player.  I just don’t listen to enough music to make it worth the expense.  I may buy a new CD once every other year.  In contrast, my car radio is almost always on.  It is never on the music channel though.  I listen, almost exclusively, to sports radio and talk radio.  At least two hours a day, I am tuned in to a talk show of some sort.  At least twice a week I wish that there were a way for me to record just a few minutes of a show that I am listening to because I want to hear the end of a segment or interview or something after I get to where I am going.

Enter Podcasting.  I think there is a large demographic of people like me who don’t have MP3 players only because we don’t really listen to that much music.  What is the point of having an Ipod if you never listen to it?  I think that is all about to change.  My local sports channel just started offering their programming via Podcasting.  I just subscribe to their RSS feed and it automatically downloads to my computer.  Let’s just say that I am on my way to buy a MP3 player.

I think that in a year or so, you will see most talk shows having Podcasts.  Just think of how easy it would be to increase you listeners by 20,000 or 30,000 virtually for free.  There will be new types of MP3 players that allow you to subscribe to your favorite Podcasts and download them directly to your device.  I see new subscription models were people would pay for content to download.  Just look at how satellite radio has taken off.  With Podcasting, you can listen to your content whenever you want to.

Highest Page Rank, Lowest Number of Posts

by Robb Dunewood on June 13, 2005

You know, I was looking at how often I post to my BlackBerry site RIMarkable.com as compared to to Tech4front and it makes me wonder how Tech4front has a higher Page rank when I barely post to it.  I think that if I ever truly am going to become successful at the Pro Blogging thing I am going to have to learn a bit about Search Engine Optimisation.

RIMarkable.com is starting to come around

by Robb Dunewood on June 5, 2005

I started a BlackBerry news and reviews site called RIMarkable.com about 9 months ago and it is finally starting to take off.  I am consistently getting unique visitors from search engines which is great.  I have thrown Adsense on there as well and allthough I cannot quite my day job, this one blog pays all of my monthly online fees.

by Robb Dunewood on June 1, 2005

A couple of weeks ago moved Tech4Front from Blogger to Wordpress.  We are about to start a new month and we really should get back into the swing of things.
